I live on the outskirts of North Yorkshire, so it is much easier for me to access this National Park rather than the Lake District. Many a walk that I have logged has been enjoyed during a summer evening or late afternoon as it can sometimes only take as little as twenty minutes to get to a start point.
The North Yorkshire Moors and the Vale of York are the easiest for me to reach, but I do have a love of the Yorkshire Dales which I realise I am visiting on an increased frequency. The likes of Swaledale and Wensleydale are high on my favourites list, but Wharfedale must also be considered as a favourite (although harder to get to for me distance wise) as there are so many excellent walks there, many of which I have still to experience.
I have categorised each the walks I have done into the various areas or ‘Dales’ of North Yorkshire. The boundaries between these regions are somewhat loose, so the categorisation can only be considered as ‘rough’ at best.
