C2C Day 9 - Danby Wiske to Osmotherley

The second of our easy days across the Vale of Mowbray was done mostly on flat country lanes.

Today's route crosses the main North East Coast railway line and also the very busy A19. Probably would have been worth extending this easy day if possible, as I found the next one (Day 10) particularly hard !

A good time was had though in Osmotherley as our wives joined us for the evening in the Queen Catherine.

Parking

Plenty of country lane walking today - Here were crossing the A167. Most of the road walking is easy and the lanes are quiet though, you hardly ever see a car.

Another obstacle to overcome - The main Edinburgh to London train line first and then this one - the Northallerton to Yarm branch line

Look both ways

And back to the countryside near East Harlsey

Just up the road and we could be home !!

Are we going 'Out' or 'Out Out' ?

To bring some glamour into our week - Our wives Karen & Christine arrived to cheer us up. As Karen later pointed out - it reminded her of "a scene out of Midnight Express", well we hadn't seen them for 10 days what do you expect ?

The night also nearly ended up badly, as whilst going outside and saying goodbye to the girls, the landlord locked up all the doors as he thought everyone had gone home for the night. Ten minutes later and a lot of banging on the doors we were fortunately let back in to go to our rooms !
