A pleasant evening walk from Osmotherley following the Cleveland Way to Scarth Nick before turning right to the Sheepwash.

To return, we crossed the beck and took the high ground alongside Osmotherley Moor until reaching the quiet country lane (Hawnby Road) and following it back to the village.

A pint at the Golden Lion was a very enjoyable reward for our efforts.

Parking

Always seems to be a space or two on the road through Osmotherley, although I think it can get busy at times

A very desirable area within the national park - somewhere I've always dreamed of living myself.

With views like these of the Cleveland Hills - who wouldn't ?

Always a photo-stop here with stunning view across the Vale of Mowbray all the way to Richmond

As the sun slowly lowers, the beauty of this land of ours only increases.

Chatting away, we skirt the top of Arncliffe Wood.

Scarth Wood Moor ahead.

A path walked many times - Coast to Coast, country pub crawls, evening and afternoon strolls - but always enjoyable.

The junction down to Scarth Nick - This evening we turned right and left the Cleveland Way and headed towards the Sheepwash at the end of Cod beck Reservoir.

After a short climb, we walked alongside Osmotherley Moor on the very flat and straight track above Cod Beck Reservoir and the eastern side woods. As the light began to fade, we thought it wise to turn right at the Hawnby road rather than continuing on to Chequers and Square Corner as we would probably do if it were a little earlier. But no harm done, over two hours of walking is enough for an evening walk at this time of year.

A mile or so along the country lane and we reach the outskirts of Osmotherley.
