Cleveland Way - Scarborough to Filey

The final section of the Cleveland Way takes you from the large and bustling seaside resort of Scarborough along the North Sea coastline to the much smaller seaside town of Filey. The walk generally hugs the clifftops for the most part with very little in the way of challenging climbs - a slight detour away from the coastline is encountered at Osgodby, but other than that its sea views and beaches all the way. The Cleveland Way officially ends at Filey Brigg and that's where we celebrated the completion of Roberts first ever long distance walk, having set off from Helmsley seven days earlier and successfully negotiated the 109 miles. Well done you !

Parking

Now the plan was for the three of us to walk to Filey and get the train back - that's why I parked at the Rail Station - As it turned out, we would have had a long wait for the train, so we hopped into a taxi for the return journey instead. So actually, could have parked anywhere really !

A bit tacky - but I always think the North side of Scarborough is the better

Nice bit of beach, but can't compare it to the one at Filey.

Scarborough stayed in view for some time on this clear and sunny day.

After the inland bit at Osgodby, it was back down to the pretty Cayton Bay.

After a short lunch break, it was cliff top walking all the way to Filey

The gentle path alongside Gristhorpe Cliffs - time for a bit of bird watching with our resident twitcher Ste - Who proceeded to amaze us with his in-depth knowledge - He even spotted a bird that wasn't a Wheatear !
