Carlton (Lord Stones Cafe), Wainstones, Hasty Bank

Tuesday 23rd May 2017

A lovely evening walk for a few hours. We parked on the roadside near the Lord Stones café and followed the Cleveland Way to Hasty Bank via the Wainstones. At the point where the path meets the road (B1257) at the top of Clay Bank we turned round and followed the lower level and easier path back to Lord Stones.

At the half way turning point, my daughter (having just used my mobile phone) told me that I should always have a cover for my phone just in case I ever dropped it - I responded by saying "I don't drop it - and in all the years I've had one I've never cracked a screen" so what's the point ? She then handed me the phone in the knowledge that Dad knows best and then watched it slip through my fingers and smash on the rock below our feet !! We stared at each other in bemusement of what had just happened - sort of spooky actually ! and expensive.
