Walking Diary (All Walks) Long Distance Walks South Cornwall - SWCP 2017

The final seven miles from Kingsand to Plymouth was as gentle a day as you could imagine - However, we were given a pretty good soaking as the walk which had been more or less wall to wall sunshine ended up with a storm. Torrential rain awaited as we tried to take our celebration photos on Plymouth Hoe and the Mayflower steps

Another cracking Long Distance Walk comes to an end - Now for the long journey home.

The Cremyll ferry crossing to Plymouth

The place where the first Europeans (The Pilgrim Fathers) set sail from Plymouth to America in 1620 - and where we end our South Cornwall Coastal walk. The Pilgrim Fathers set off on the boat 'The Mayflower' - Hence these are known as the 'Mayflower Steps'. We didn't hang about for long here as the rain was so heavy - would have liked to have a photo with us both in, but there was no one else was around to take it ! I hope the Pilgrim Fathers had better weather when they set off back in 1620 !
