Rest Dodd, The Nab, Brock Crags & Angletarn Pikes

Parked up okay at Bridgend opposite Deepdale - first one here and its 09:45 - I suppose it is a Tuesday in March.

Heading over the fields to pick up the main Patterdale to Hartsop path.

As I follow the bridleway in the direction of Hartsop, I stop for a while to look back over the route taken so far.

Spectacular views towards Brothers Water with Middle Dodd, High Hartsop Dodd and then Harsop above How to the right.

A nice view down 'Pasture Bottom' - always a giggle.

After Hartsop, it was a gradual climb on the Hayeswater Gill path.

Crossing Hayeswater Gill was easy today, just as well as the bridge has seen better times.

Now I usually head straight up Rest Dodd - but today I thought, Where there's a 'Wall' there's a way ! and I headed eastwards before turning uphill, and yes a clear path emerged.

Looking back over to a frosty 'The Knott' and an impressive Rampsgill Head to the left.

From the steady climb up Rest Dodd - you can see Gray Crag and Hartsop Dodd over the dry stone wall.

The summit of Rest Dodd - I'm often asked which fells are the hardest to climb. Not an easy one to answer really, but I always think Glaramara is tough, due to the constant undulations in the terrain and to be honest, Rest Dodd is one that I find is quite a tiring one too - Maybe it's because you have to climb it twice when doing an 'out and back' to The Nab !

Leaving the summit of Rest Dodd and starting the descent down to The Nab. I usually try and walk The Nab in the middle of winter when the ground is solid - looks like I've waited a tad too long this year !

After a bit of mush jumping I reached the summit of 'The Nab'

I've never gone any other route to The Nab other than this one from Rest Dodd - I'm always a bit wary on the wildlife conservation restrictions which may rule out a straight ascent or decent up/down the nose - I'm going to have to check this out as I did see some folk heading down the nose today.

If anyone knows the score, please let me know.

Heading back to Rest Dodd - Another steep one coming up.

After the summit of Rest Dodd (for the second time), it was mostly down hill to Brock Crags.

First view of Angle Tarn as I head off the main path and walk towards Brock Crags..

Probably the summit of Brock Crags as it's a tad higher than the main cairn - but who cares.

Now this is a summit. Brock Crags.

Always worth a visit just for the amazing views.

It must be up there as one of the most picturesque tarns in lakeland.

After Boredale Hause it is a pleasant descent back towards my starting point at Bridgend.
