Situated at the northern end of Thirlmere reservoir, Raven Crag is a short, but reasonably steep 'Wainwright' Fell. The route is less than 3 miles in total and I chose to do it this time as an 'out and back' although you can do it as a circular (See a previous blog of mine for Raven Crag). However, this way is the quickest to 'bag' this small fell and that's what I decided to do today.
The walk up and down does offer stunning views over Thirlmere and the surrounding fells and a lot of the route is now clear of the previous tree cover - so more views are available to the walker, unlike previous years.
