Middleham town centre with plenty of racehorses on show.
As we head out from the town centre we pass the impressive 15th century Middleham Castle.
Out onto the Gallops and across Middleham Low Moor
After turning right near Tupgill Park it was a bit of country lane walking as we head towards Wensley.
Looking over the fields to our right, Leyburn can just be seen in the distance.
Wensley Bridge over the River Ure. Plenty of roadworks going on here at the moment, in fact the A684 is actually closed to traffic right now.
Heading eastwards alongside the River Ure.
Still a little waterlogged in the low fields bordering the river.
The sun starts to break through as we enjoy the very quiet North Yorkshire countryside.

Heading off over the fields in the direction of Harmby
Harmby - Okay, time for a lunch stop.
The bells missing !!
St Micheal and all Angels Church, Spennithorne.
Further down the road at Spennithorne, we arrived at the pub that 5 years earlier 11 of us had enjoyed lunch whilst on our country pub crawl.
The Old Horn Inn - Happy days.
Back alongside the River Ure as we approach Ulshaw.
Ulshaw Bridge.
After the pub at Ulshaw, it's over the Cover Bridge and down some steps to pick up the path on the far side.
This time Davy safely negotiates the stepping stones - wet feet on our last visit !
The last leg of the journey as we head over the fields back towards Middleham.
Middleham Castle appears on the horizon.
Arriving back at Middleham - we admire all the castle fortifications.
A nice easy day out today.
