Fairfield Horseshoe.

I have walked this horseshoe quite a few times, but I've always followed it in an anti-clockwise route. I thought I'd mix it up a bit today and do it 'clockwise' for a change. Was it any better ? .... Well I think it was slightly easier - the gradual climb to Low Pike, High Pike, Dove Crag and Hart Crag was nothing too hard, just long, whereas the Nab Scar and Heron Pike to Great Rigg section always takes a lot out of your legs very early on. Maybe its just psychological, but it seemed much less tiring. But I'm sure many would disagree.

As for enjoyment, they are both good - but I certainly enjoyed the sumptuous views of Grasmere and Rydal Water as I neared the end of the walk. I'll leave it a couple of years before I do it again, maybe I'll go back to the norm - we'll see.
