Roadside parking on the outskirts of Keswick (Crosthwaite) near the Pheasant pub
On the Cumbria Way heading straight for Latrigg
Crossing the A66
Almost at the top of Latrigg looking down on Keswick and Derwent Water
Todays targets - Skiddaw & Skiddaw Little Man as I press on towards Latrigg summit
The climb up Jenkin Hill with a look back on this impressive view
Lonscale Fell summit. It was a short out and back from the main path from Jenkin Hill
Great Calva
After joining the 'super-highway' 'path after Skiddaw Little Man - I followed everybody else up to the top of Skiddaw. I'm not a big fan of Skiddaw summit - It always seems cold & grey up there, probably due to all the slate scree and it's usually windy when I get there. I am also not a big fan of the scree path from Carl Side that many follow on the climb up. But the views are really good here especially the Ullock Pike/Longside ridge seen on this photo with Bassenthwaite in the background
After descending from Skiddaw to Bakestall and then down Birkett Edge, I reached the Cumbria Way and Dash Falls. The path at the back of Skiddaw is very long and quiet - but easy going after all that earlier climbing and descending.
This is the footbridge crossing of the River Caldew on the Cumbria Way.
Brundholme Woods
River Greta
This area still shows the scars of all the major flooding in 2015 (Storm Desmond)
Railway walks - Can't get any flatter !! - nice and rewarding after a long tiring day
Under the A66 this time
River Greta again with Latrigg behind
Keswick Railway Station - nicely preserved
Last views of Skiddaw & Little Man as I head back to the car
