Lank Rigg walk

Parked up on the Fell Road near the path to Lank Rigg.

What a lovely car - Yes, I've got a new one and I now travel in style. It's got no scratches on it yet and I'm a tad nervous about driving it round the narrow lakeland lanes, but I'll soon mess it up and then all will be okay.

My faithful Insignia has been retired after 12 years of loyal service and a million trips to the Lakes.

It wasn't long before we had views of today's fell - Lank Rigg

Whoap to the left, Lank Rigg to the right - We were headed towards the col between these two, the narrow path traverses the side of Whoap as it gradually climbs to the col.

We decided to go back down the 'Paul Robinson' route and not follow the nice path back down to the col and valley.

I veered a little too far to the left and we had to adjust back to the right as the terrain became a swampy jungle of reeds and soft ground in Lankrigg Moss. Seemed a lot easier when I've done it before. But once corrected we reached the River Calder and were able to cross it no bother. Had it been one of the next two days, we might not have been able to cross it at all I expect.

A good day was ended with a pint in the beer garden at the Strands in Nether Wasdale.

An enjoyable night too was had in the bar.

Day 1 was a breeze - Days 2 and 3 were not quite as easy to say the least.
