Dorset Day 7 - Worth Matravers to Poole.
Our very last walk on the entire South West Coast Path - We have finally completed the 632 miles (we actually walked 712 miles). It was emotional.
An overwhelming feeling of joy and pride, but mixed with a tinge of sadness that its now all over. It was a significant achievement, but one done with great enjoyment and with great company. I've loved this walk, visiting different places, seeing the wildlife, enjoying the spectacular scenery, meeting different people, drinking lots of nice beer and plenty of great nights out and fortunately doing virtually the whole walk in lovely sunshine - how lucky have we been !
A big thanks to Davy, who has walked every step of the way with me. We have talked just about non-stop all the way and his company made the experience a truly enjoyable one for me. It wouldn't have been the same without him.
My favourite part of the walk was the entire coastline of North Cornwall, worst bits were the jungle near Lyme Regis and the cycle track near Bideford. But there's so much to enjoy on this very long National Trail that it's got to be experienced to be able to fully appreciate it. Will I ever walk anything as good as this ? I'm not sure to be honest.
As for our last day - there were quite a few ups and downs, but once we reached the sandy beaches of Swanage, it was pretty much flat for the last 5 miles to South Haven at Poole. The Old Harry Rocks were spectacular and ensured the trip ended on a high for us both.
A night out in Dorchester was our treat and an England game to watch was an added bonus (maybe not)
