Great End & Esk Pike

A walk from Seathwaite with an intended target of Scafell Pike, but weather conditions became so bad that we decided to abort as we crossed the boulder field near Ill Crag. A consolation climb up Esk Pike was hastily arranged - as ironically the weather eased up after we turned around. A pretty damp day was rounded off with TWO punctures (courtesy of those sharp edge stones on the Borrowdale Road) and a few hours stuck in Keswick - then to cap it all A66 closures and major detours ! Don't you just love this hobby.

Everybody was so exited to be walking in the pouring rain

The decision was made to continue with our original plan for the time being and to monitor the situation - but half an hour later we decided it was wise to abort.

Top of Esk Pike looking over towards Bowfell - As often in the lakes, the conditions changed in no time and the rain & wind eased - making a reasonably pleasant last couple of hours.
