Great Crag, Watendlath & Grange Fell from Stonethwaite

Monday 17th April 2017

Setting off from the roadside at Stonethwaite we crossed the Beck by the Stonethwaite Bridge and then turned right and followed the C2C path to the start of the climb up Lingy End.

The route through the woodland is helped by the pitched path throughout on what is reasonably hard work but a very enjoyable ascent.

At the top of the climb, the very still & quiet Dock Tarn is walked alongside and then soon afterwards Great Crag is reached - I sometimes find the actual summit of this fell tricky to find - especially in gloomy weather. Today was no exception.

Watendlath is our lunch stop - with a visit to Grange Fell afterwards before heading down the Puddingstone Bank (great name !) to Rosthwaite.

A really enjoyable - (and not too hard) circular walk in the Central Fells, with lovely views of the surrounding fells & valleys.

Then a nice pint in the Langstrath Hotel before heading for home

Apologies - only a couple of photos taken today.
