A superb (but hard) circular walk from Stonethwaite going down the Langstrath Valley and then up to Angle Tarn, before visiting Allen Crags, Glaramara and lastly Rosthwaite Fell.

I didn't meet anyone for virtually the whole of this walk - the isolation was unreal.

Parking

Parked up along the roadside nice and early and I set off via Stonethwaite

A red squirrel saw me off

Halfway down the Langstrath Valley - So quiet and deserted, you really do have this part of the lakes all to yourself !

Allen Crags summit

A great viewpoint at Allen Crags - now looking over towards the Langdales on the left, Bowfell on the right and I'd say that's Pike of Blisco in the centre at distance.

Looking back to Great End as I head towards Glaramara. I always think the Glaramara and Rosthwaite Fells offer some of the hardest fell walking terrain. There doesn't seem to be an end the the undulating rocky climbs along a very long wide ridge - I've always found this quite challenging - although always enjoyable

Rosthwaite Fell summit reached. The walk between Glaramara and Rosthwaite Fells is in my opinion the hardest to navigate in bad weather in the whole of the lakes. Combe door always seems to pose me problems !

Bessyboot summit with the 'Tarn at Leaves' below (Rosthwaite Fell summit behind the tarn). Now for the descent back down to Stonethwaite.
