Coniston Old Man, Brim Fell, Swirl How & Wetherlam

Friday 27th October 2017

Parking in the town of Coniston, I followed the Walna Scar Road and turned right at the Fell Gate Car Park and headed for Low Water. There was a lot of activity on the side of Brim Fell as a helicopter was lowering a paramedic and then winching up a casualty on a stretcher - I wasn't really sure at first if this was a staged exercise or a real life incident but I found out later that is was indeed a rescue (100ft fall) and was attended by Coniston Mountain Rescue.

Coniston Old Man was very busy so I quickly pressed on to Brim Fell and then Swirl How passing many of the Coniston Mountain Rescue team members on their return from the days work. After Swirl How I went down to Prison Band and then over Wetherlam before descending back down to Coniston.
