A wet and windy walk in the Far Eastern Fells starting at Swindale and visiting Mosedale, Tarn Crag, Grey Crag, Branstree, Selside Pike and returning via The Old Corpse Road.

Parking

Parking is free at Swindale Foot and always spaces as this is a very quiet area.

Heading past Truss Gap and the Water Works as I head for Swindale Head

A bit nearer Swindale Head now

The walkers route is up to the left nearer the waterfalls - but one of the best named places in the lake District is 'Hobgrumble' Gill seen more central. Something out of Harry Potter isn't it !

As I reach Mosedale on the higher ground I look back down into Swindale

and again... looking Southwards into the mist

Feint outline of the Kentmere Horseshoe (Shipman Knotts & Kentmere Pike)

As I leave Tarn Crag and head towards Selside Brow and Branstree, Gatesgarth Pass can be seen to the left with Harter Fell behind.

Branstree summit. The walk to Selside Pike was dampened as the drizzle got heavier and the camera stayed in the pocket as a result.
