Causey Pike, Scar Crags, Outerside & Barrow walk

Parking on the roadside near Uzzicar Farm.

Nice and warm at 9am as I head down the lane in the direction of Stoneycroft.

The narrow stone path that I took that starts at the roadside just after the bridge over Stoneycroft Gill.

The enjoyable, but quite steep climb up towards Rowling End. I prefer this route, straight up the front, but the summit of Causey Pike can also be gained by going via the direct route to Causey Pike via Sleet Hause - A much gentler route, but not as enjoyable in my opinion.

Stopping to take a breather and enjoying the sumptuous views in the direction of Derwent Water and Keswick.

And finally - a look over to see the ever popular Cat Bells.

A little bit of very gentle hand to rock as I approach the top of Rowling End.

Ahead of me now is Sleet Hause and the unmistakable Causey Pike with it's knobbly top.

Looking back down the path up to the top of Causey Pike. Another bit of rock clambering to follow, but nothing tricky.

All quiet at the top of Scar Crags.

Yep, there it is again - the awful path up Sail. Doesn't seem to get any better with time, it's looked as bad as that for the last 15 years as far as I can remember.

After heading down to Sail Pass, I headed down towards High Moss and my next fell - Outerside.

In no time at all, I was at the top of Outerside.

I descended down from Outerside and looked back to see what a lovely heather clad fell it is.

A hop, skip and a jump from Outerside is the busy little fell called Barrow. Lovely all round views from the top on a sunny day like today.

Heading down the heather covered north side of Barrow - a gentle descent made all the more enjoyable by the warm sunshine. I've just realised that I haven't stopped for lunch yet - been enjoying this too much to notice!

Looking back up the grassy slopes of Barrow - Think I'll let my 4 year old Grandson climb this one for his first 'Wainwright' - a good place to start.

Braithwaite in front of me, although I didn't visit the village today, but turned right as I neared the bottom.

Heading back through the woods as I head back towards my car at Uzzicar.
