Yorkshire 3 Peaks

Saturday 27th May 2017

The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles and well over 5000ft of ascent.

The Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

I decided to really push it today and see what sort of time I could do this in - I kept a brisk pace throughout the day and finished it in just over 9 hours (which is well below the 11.5hrs last time and probably quicker than most of the people doing it today). I never rush a walk, but today I felt the need for a challenge and something made me consider time (maybe it's because it's in the name ?) - It's a one off, as I've never done it since and I don't really recommend it to be honest and the next time I do this enjoyable circuit - It will be at a more leisurely pace.

In addition, I've walked this twice now, but don't have GPS recordings for either trip - So it's photographs only again I'm afraid
