Beautiful spot to get parked up overlooking Wast Water and The Screes.
We set off along the roadside passing Wasdale Hall before turning left and heading up to Whin Rigg.
Yewbarrow, Kirk Fell & Great Gable in the background - Cuz in the foreground as we start our descent from Illgill Head
Having a breather, we sat near the top of Lords Rake and watched a free solo climber coming up the tricky way - I find this amazing, how can someone do that ? "He must be young and have no kids" - Can you see the red dot risking his life on that wall of rock ?
Top of Lords Rake (not for us)
On our way to Slight Side with the top of Scafell behind us
From Slight Side we look back to (From L to R) Scafell Pike, Ill Crag, Esk Pike & Bowfell
Slight Side summit looking towards Eskdale
Behind us, the path down from Scafell
Arriving at the Eskdale roadside at Wha House Farm, we strolled along the road satisfied by our excellent (long & hard) walk - only to find there was a beer festival on in the Woolpack Inn (Boot beer festival I think) - Well, it would have been rude not to go in wouldn't it ! Tasted so good on such a hot day. Great way to end a great day out
