West Highland Way Day 3 - Inversnaid to Crianlarich

This walk was done well before I ever considered having a walking diary website, so the memories of those six days are limited - as are the photographs available for use. So, I'm recording what I have, but it falls short of the records that I would like to present.

The start of the day continues alongside Loch lomond with a quick visit to Rob Roy's cave along the way. The path then makes its way away from the loch and to Inverarnan. This is a reasonably well known spot for us having been here a few times before, staying at the Drovers when walking in Scotland. So it was too good of an opportunity to miss for a spot of Haggis Neeps and Tatties along with a lunchtime beer. It also gave Les the chance to get a proper pair of walking socks to try to protect what he had left of his feet ! It's then on our way and another 7 miles to Crianlarich along the Old Military Road.

A fond farewell

Serene Loch Lomond - Soon to say farewell too - we will miss you, but I'm sure we'll be back one day.

Walking conditions couldn't be better - Wish we could say the same for Les's feet ! He has more compeeds on his feet than he has skin ! But being the real trooper he is, he carried on with little more than an occasiional grimace - Top Man !!

As we reach the end of Loch Lomond Ben Lui can be seen, prominent in the distance

One last look back at the stunning Loch Lomond as we start to climb towards Inverarnan

A beer, Neeps and Tatties and a proper pair of walking socks for Les - All sorted whilst we have a slight detour and stop at the Drovers

I wonder who made all this mess along the Old Military Road ?

These 'yellow brick road' style bridleways became a common feature of the West Highland Way - mile after mile of gentle walking amongst pretty impressive surroundings

Time for a bit of railway station appreciation as we arrive at Crianlarich
