Wansfell walk direct from Ambleside.

An easy one to finish our mini-walking holiday in the Lakes. This was my drive home day and we had already had a couple of quite hard days previously, so after another night out in Ambleside, we limited ourselves to a quick 'out & back' to the summit of Wansfell.

Straight out of our hotel and soon you are on the fellside with views back down to Ambleside, this up and down took just over 2 hours - We only visited Wansfell Pike summit giving Baystones a miss which is a bit further north-east along the wide ridge.

Out the back of The White Lion, the following sign shows the way (Waterfalls = Stockghyll Force).

Following the very quiet road as we gradually head upwards.

Time to leave the country lane and head onto the fellside.

Looking back as Ambleside comes into view.

Snarker Pike can be seen to the north, which links up with Red Screes further along..

A warm sunny day had certainly brought out many walkers - Wansfell was certainly very popular today.

At the top of Wansfell Pike, the wall can be followed all the way to Baystones if desired, although I prefer to include that as a circular from Troutbeck.

Anyway - Wansfell Pike was our only target today.
