South Cornwall Day 7 - Mevagissey to Fowey

Saturday 8th July 2017

Make no mistake - This is a hard leg ! 19 miles and 3800ft ascent in the heat made for a very hard day ! The stretch between Mevagissey and Charlestown was particularly tough - We needed a sit down and a pint in the Pier Hotel at Charlestown just to keep us going. The second half of the day to Fowey is a lot easier, especially around the Par area, where the path is routed around the docks. But that first 5 miles from Mevagissey is quite a challenge.

Unfortunately, Paul had to leave us today, he had been struggling since Day 1 with his damaged feet (and many other ailments) - but he was battling on. However, his wife Karen was really poorly and had deteriorated such that he needed to get back home sharpish (it sounded quite serious). We said our goodbye's and wished him well as we parted on the morning in Mevagissey. Brian was also involved, leaving his own special contribution to smart traffic management in the centre of Mevagissey, before Paul departed.
