Red Screes, Middle Dodd, High Pike & Low Pike

A very wet and windy circular walk from Ambleside via 'The Struggle', Snarker Pike, Red Screes, Middle Dodd, Scandale Pass, and then back over part of the Fairfield Horseshoe - High Pike and Low Pike. Great route but conditions poor today

Parking

The Struggle offered many sheltering trees against the driving rain - but soon there was no hiding on the fell side.

I turned off the road here and made my way up Snarker Pike

A stunning view down to Brothers Water - the heavy rain had eased and I was able to catch this rainbow. The out and back to middle Dodd is in the foreground

Looking back towards Red Screes as I make my way down to Middle Dodd. It always seems a bit odd going 'down'to a summit - but there it is !

A very impressive cairn at the top of Scandale Head - this deserves a few photos - It's located at a place called High Blakestones and is a very useful navigation point especially in conditions like today

Looking across to Scandale Pass with Little Hart Crag in the distance - Soon after this the heavens opened and my iphone/camera remined tucked away until I reached Ambleside
