Pennine Way (North) Day 3 - Alston to Greenhead.
Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination - todays leg didn't have the beauty of the River Tees nor the climbs of Cross Fell that we had both enjoyed over the last two days. But the first half was slightly more appealing than the second with the gentle hills, roman history and railway connotations.
Of course, we also had the benefit of Steve, the accomplished mountaineer and long distance walker joining us for the day and of course his wealth of knowledge regarding the natural world, he entertained us throughout the majority of the day by pointing out the rabbits to us.
