Pennine Way Day 11 - Dufton to Alston

Pennine Way (North) Day 2 - Dufton to Alston

A day of two halves.

The excellent and long climb up to the summit of Cross Fell is satisfying and interesting. However, the long and tedious descent back down the other side is boring and un-interesting. But you have no choice if you want to complete the Pennine Way. The last few miles from Garrigill to Alston along the River South Tyne is in contrast much more enjoyable and does bring a long day to a pleasant end.
