Pennine Way Day 2 - Crowden to Standedge
A mixture of remote moorland, stone slabs, reservoirs and bleakness.
A certain amount of ascent is encountered in the first few miles, the high level walking around Laddow Rocks was the highlight for me, but after that, the walking is generally easy going. The route is no longer a slog through peat bog around Black Hill, but a super highway of perfectly laid slabs where walking can be straightforward, fast but a little bland at times.
