Kirk Fell & Haystacks

Kirk Fell & Haystacks.

A strange walk this one, Robert had 2 fells left to be able to clear all his Western fells. He was determined to do it, so we embarked on a sort of messy 'out and back' and another 'out and back' again to get both fells from a Honister Pass starting point. Not a walk that I would imagine many have embarked upon in the past. I remember doing a circular picking up both these fells but it involved dropping down into the Ennerdale Valley and back up again. A much better walk, but I thought it may be a bit too hard for Robert on his third day of walking, especially after an arduous walk up Scafell Pike the previous day.

As it was, this was a tough one indeed, and made so much harder by probably one of the worst weather days I have ever had! Persistent heavy rain all day long made for a very hard seven hour walk with virtually no views throughout. So much for the easier option.
