Gowbarrow Fell, Little Mell Fell & Great Mell Fell

A grey and gloomy day on these outlying fells. I wanted to try and tie all three together in one single circular walk. It just about worked, although there was a little too much time spent on the roadside at the end. But still a good stretch of the legs on a day that low fell walking was recommended due to the cloud and drizzle.

Rather than cutting directly across to Little Mell Fell as I usually do, I decided to walk round Gowbarrow a bit towards Ullswater and then turn left and head through Swinburn Park.

The entrance to Swinburn Park - Pretty area with lovely views of the fells on the other side of Ullswater.

A 10 minute ascent to this one - usually people pull up in their car, nip up & down and then go off to bag the next easy fell

Approaching Brownrigg Farm and the track to Great Mell Fell. A few parking spots are available here.

I took the first right turn (the second one was probably the better of the two today due to the bracken and dampness). I returned via that route.

Heading back down - Little Mell Fell looks a bit clearer now - Typical !!

As I do 45 minutes of road walking - Gowbarrow appears through the trees, almost back now & time to get some dry clothes on.
