After walking the Dodds yesterday and a great night out in Keswick, we allowed ourselves an easier walk for the next day.
Here's a picture of the Keswick war memorial with Latrigg behind as I waited for Ste & Robert to pick me up and head over to Ullswater.
Arriving at Ullswater - Glenridding Dodd & Sheffield Pike were our targets for today, that should be a nice little round before heading for home.
Parking at Glencoyne Bay (National Trust Car Park) right on the shore of Ullswater. Even had a little van serving lovely coffee.
As we set off, Ste amazed us with his ornithologist expertise.
"Over there you see, we have a flock of Alaskan Yellow Beaked Herons and some lesser spotted giant tree warblers"
To be honest, they all looked like crows to me.
With the lake behind us we headed down the lane towards Glencoyne Farm.
Plenty of lambs bouncing around - always lovely to see.
Following the well laid out route by the farm, we start a gentle ascent towards Seldom Seen (cottages).
Heading towards the edge of Glencoyne Wood with Sheffield Pike in the distance.
The gate which is where we will later re-join during our descent.
But for now, it's straight onwards and upwards.
Looking back down the path with the southern side of Hart Side in view, slightly to the left.
The lovely little Glenridding Dodd comes into view,
A pretty little fell overlooking Ullswater - Glenridding Dodd.
Yet another bagged for this dynamic walker - Robert only needs to visit 23 more before he can complete his whole set of Wainwrights.
No stopping him now !
It's just a little 'out and back' from the col between Glenridding Dodd and Sheffield Pike, but it only takes a few minutes and is well worth the effort for the views at the top.
Glenridding down below with the southern end of Ullswater also in view.
Birkhouse Moor on the other side of the valley as we enjoy the cracking climb up the nose of Sheffield Pike.
Further up Sheffield Pike and time for a breather - What lovely views back down to Ullswater - I do love this place.
Approaching the top of Sheffield Pike after that very enjoyable climb.
Sheffield Pike summit.
The climb up ahead would take us to Stybarrow Dodd - where we were yesterday!,
But we turn right at the col and head back down the valley towards Glencoyne Bay.
A pretty decent descent path too.
A little bit wet and rocky in places, but a relatively gentle descent all the same.
Soon we were back on that farm lane and after a coffee & sandwich, time to head home.
