Ulshaw, Middleham & East Witton

A nice easy stroll around Wensleydale with a few stop off places for refreshments and of course, the very impressive Middleham Castle.

Nice gentle walking alongside the river

Time to cross over to the Middleham side

Often after periods of rain, these stepping stones cannot be used as they are underwater

As castles go, this is pretty impressive !

Down the muddy track to get a closer look

You can easily spend 10 minutes just trying to imagine what everyday life must have been like back in the twelfth century - It makes you want to go back in time just to have a peak (but get transported straight back mind - no telly in those days).

Very race-horsey round here !

Time to cross the River Cover again

Left turn for me - Next stop East Witton

Back to walking alongside the river

After a brief visit to East Witton and the Blue Lion, it was back across the fields to Ulshaw
