A well walked path gradually ascends between Gear Aonach and Aonach Dubh.

The excellent path climbs steadily up into Coire nan Lochan, keeping high on the left side of the valley - at one point where the path comes closer to the stream is there a rockier section requiring some simple scrambling. If I can do it, anyone can !

I don't mind admitting it - I was exhausted by the time I reached the summit of Bidean Nam Bian. There was a down and up just between Stob Coire Nan Lochan and Bidean Nam Bian and it finished me off ! But I had a real sense of achievement on what was at the time, the highest ascent of my walking career.

We decided to give the other Munro (Stob Coire Sgreamhach) a miss, and started to descend towards the Lost Valley. Looking back now, I wish we had nipped up and bagged that additional Munro - it would have been another one for my limited collection.

At the far end of the Coire is the flat area known as the 'Lost Valley'. This was used to hide rustled cattle by the Macdonald's of Glencoe.

Nearly back at the car park now as our thoughts turn to a night out at the Clachaig
