Armboth Fell, High Tove, Raven Crag & High Rigg

Plenty of parking on the Thirlmere 'deserted' roadside. Has everyone given up trying to get up to Raven Crag due to all the work going on

Out into the open now and the wind and rain were awful.

A very quick visit to the exposed Armboth Fell, then it's over the swamp to High Tove

High Tove summit - not hanging around here, the wind and rain are real spoilers

Bit more sheltered now - but any idea what thats all about ?

I remembered being here some years ago and this area was impassible due to all the fallen trees following a severe storm - I tried to get through but it was too difficult. I did find a way through that day, further round the forrestry road, but no such problems today !

A cracking vantage point - I often enjoy lunch with a view here, no exception today although its much better in the summer.

Flask of hot coffee & a sandwich - with a view like this to enjoy (even on a gloomy day like today)

Impressive Iron Crag

I was unsure whether to go to High Rigg today, the conditions were pretty horrible - but I've come all this way and its only 1pm - so lets go for it !

A bit messy getting round all the ground works - I guess this is to do with Keswick flood defences ?

Well I won't be getting out this way - as I arrive at Thirlmere

Just as moody as ever !

As structures go, this is a very impressive reservoir wall with its single track road

The rain eased as I collected my thoughts after todays walk - pleased I have a change of clothes

1890 !! Didnt realise it was that old (130 years !) They certainly were good engineers - I wonder if they also had 'Point of Work Risk Assessments' and Human Factor considerations - I bet not !! A lovely piece of engineering all the same.
