A short walk in Borrowdale.

Starting in the pretty hamlet of Grange, we walked along the Cumbria Way to Rosthwaite. The Borrowdale Bus service was on hand to help us out today, so no need to worry about parking.

A pleasant stroll amongst the stunning Borrowdale countryside.

Parking

A short bus journey and we are dropped off at Grange.

Holy Trinity Church.

After leaving Grange, we walk along the country lane to the Borrowdale Gates Hotel and then take the footpath off to the left.

On the Cumbria Way with stunning views down into the Borrowdale Valley.

All smiles as the sun shines down on us.

The Cumbria Way meanders it's way alongside the River Derwent.

A very special place for Sian.

I believe this is the entrance to Millican Daltons Cave. We didn't go any further into it.

Apparently, Millican Dalton lived in this cave in summer on the side of Castle Crag for nearly 50 years. He spent his life outdoors and was self sufficient. We wouldn't have realised this, but other visitors pointed it out to us.

Great Crag can be seen in the distance.

Crossing the Derwent via the Rosthwaite packhorse bridge, rather than the stepping stones today. I bet there have been a million photo's taken at this spot - I have certainly taken many.

Now for the fun bit - A trip to Surprise View for Dave and Sian awaits, whereas myself and Chris were headed for a couple of hours of relaxation at the Lodore Falls Spa. Not all my trips to the lakes are exhausting gruelling ordeals.
