Troutbeck Tongue & Wansfell

Troutbeck, Troutbeck Tongue, Wansfell, Ambleside & Town End

A gentler walk was planned for today visiting Troutbeck Tongue and Wansfell - However, we added in a visit to Ambleside and decided to walk back round to Troutbeck via the pleasant path by Jenkin Crag and High Skelghyll - Unfortunately, I took my eye off the ball whilst chatting and we followed the wrong path through Skelghyll Woods and when we realised and due to fading light we decided to head for the road and a safe route back to the car. Not the best end to a good day out.

What was intended to be about 2500ft ascent ended up being 3500ft and 15.5miles - So much for an easier walk to tie in with my recovery from a cold and Christmas excesses! Not my greatest day.
