Seatallan, Haycock, Scoat Fell, Steeple, Red Pike & Yewbarrow

Walking Diary (All Walks) Lakeland Wainwrights Western

A very tough Mosedale walk - But one worth doing again one day.

Enjoying the last of the summer sun in a really lovely part of the lakes, todays walk took me to Seatallan via Greendale and Greendale Tarn, then over to Haycock via Pots of Ashness.

Scoat Fell was visited next with the mandatory nip over to Steeple. In clear skies, Red Pike can be found easily (unlike certain other walks I've documented) and then finally Dore Head and Yewbarrow (via the easy diagonal path up the side).

A cracking day apart from the sore nail right at the end during the descent off Yewbarrow - New boots no good I'm afraid !

After Seatallan, it was over to Haycock via the Pots of Ashness - Never taken this path before - enjoyed it and will certainly be back again

After enjoying Haycock, Steeple, Scoat Fell & Red Pike - I had a shore break at Dore Head and enjoyed the views over to Kirk Fell and Great Gable.

As I painfully descend Yewbarrow, the cloud lifts away from the big fells and I can clearly see Lingmell, Scafell Pike and Scafell. My new boots used today are not the best of fits and my big toe has had some bashing. I lost the nail some time later after this walk and I now have a weakness there - the Scarpa boots were the same as I'd always had but one was manufactured slightly differently (I compared it with others). Scarpa were good and sorted me out with a replacement pair but the damage was done. Just like a blister, once you get one its always the weak spot !

ouch, ouch, ouch.. ! certainly didn't enjoy this descent.
