The busy (Brown Tongue) way up to Scafell Pike from Wasdale Head with a visit over to Lingmell before the quiet route down the nose of Lingmell back to Wasdale Head.

Popular and Free car parking just before the Wasdale Head pub - busy, but spaces at 10am on a Bank Holiday weekend
Kirk Fell & Great Gable as I set off
The bridge over Lingmell Beck
Not exactly a raging torrent !!
There's no water as far as the eye can see
Traversing around the base of Lingmell looking towards The Screes and Wast Water
Gentle ascent for now
The junction between the Wasdale Head path and the Brackenclose one
This chap had an overcoat, cords and a single bottle of water - a hot day (ideally shorts & T Shirt) and he was travelling at a fair pace, I hope he doesn't suffer later.
The Lingmell Beck (Brown Tongue) crossing - No problems today (barely a trickle)
No shortage of people today
Looking over to Mickledore
There's Lords Rake - a few were heading up there to 'Scafell' (Not Scafell Pike I may add)
It's a big of a continuous slog up this way - by far and away, in my opinion, the better route is from Seathwaite (Grains Ghyll - return via Corridor route). That's such an enjoyable walk - this is just a grind with people in front and behind all day long - will be a while before I do this path again.
View back down to Wast water
Well what do you know - It's busy at the top. The only place in the lakes where there must be a litter collection weekly as people don't seem to mind leaving rubbish here. You can probably tell by my comments that this isn't my sort of day.
A view from the summit towards Styhead Tarn and into Borrowdale
Scafell - probably very quiet
Now to battle my way back down - although I'm planning on heading for Ligmell straight ahead
Ah peace and quiet - with a view, time for coffee and lunch
Goodbye to the traffic jam on the path to Scafell Pike
Summit of Lingmell with Great Gable in the background
Walking down Lingmell towards Wasdale, this was a lovely route in great contrast to the Brown Tongue path
Looking back up to the summit
Looking over to Mosedale with Yewbarrow (left), Kirk Fell (right) and Pillar in the middle hidden by cloud
Stunning view down to Wast Water
It's like ants doing the conga !!
The highlight of the day for me was meeting up again with John & Margaret (aka 'The Yellows') - we met whilst I was having my lunch break and we spent quite a bit of time together on Lingmell - I think we'll continue to meet up as they're quite easy to spot & recognise. A lovely couple.
