Offa's Dyke Day 3 - Llanferres to Llangollen
Another tough one, longer today than yesterday but not quite as much ascent.
We left the lovely Druids pub and the landlady kindly offered to lift us back to the path (at the cost of a fiver of course). We were still in the Clwydian hills so more climbing was necessary. I can honestly say that the first 15 minutes climb up Foel Fenilli was one of the hardest of my life - it's the nearest I've been to being ill on a walk, I felt so sick after last night I was really struggling and to start with a sharp ascent didn't help at all. It wasn't anything harsh - it's just my body didn't want to go uphill. Anyway, I had no choice - I drank loads of water and gradually pulled round. Maybe I'll go easy tonight ? - but with Paul in tow, who was just here for the sprint (i.e. 3 days only) and not the marathon (i.e. the full walk), I don't think there would be much chance of a quiet night (too right I was too).
Todays walk had a bit of everything, field paths with some road walking, meadows, moorlands and forests - with many Clwydian climbs to enjoy along the way then culminating with a long scree path traverse below the Eglwyseg Crags.
Llangollen is the place to stay - a bit more of that later !
