North Devon - Day 1 - Minehead to Porlock

The start of the 2019 Long Distance Walk (North Devon) was at Minehead (in Somerset) and the destination was to be Bude (in Cornwall). This would connect up all our coastal walking previously done in Cornwall and leave only one section of the South West Coast path to do in the future.

Day 1 was a long one - not so much the walking, but the fact that we had a 360 mile drive to Barnstaple, an hour taxi to Minehead and then the 8 miles or so to walk from Minehead to Porlock. The beers were good on the night though and we soon got into the swing of it all again.

Drive to Devon over with - Now for a taxi to the start.

Pretty impressive start point I have to say (Hands and Map bronze sculpture) - We were white pale skin at the start - Bronzed Gladiators at the end !

Minehead didn't come with a great reputation, so we decided to do the 3 hour walk to Porlock on the travel day, this sounded like a nice place to stay and it got us on track with the other places we wanted to stay at further down the line.

Poole seems a long way ! But if this Devon coastal path is anything like North Cornwall we are really in for a treat. As I said earlier - Only one more section to complete after this one and we will have covered all 630 miles.
