Loweswater circular walk. Following our morning in Borrowdale, we first considered a short walk around Buttermere to finish the day, but due to time constraints and the fact that we fancied a drink at the log fired Kirkstile Inn - We headed for Loweswater and a walk around the small lake (or 'Water' should I say..)

This is a pretty and gentle walk which took us around Loweswater, following the lake shore, passing through Holme Wood and then returning by the roadside and, of course, The Kirkstile Inn.

Parking

The Red Phone Box at Loweswater (near the Kirkstile Inn) provides a few parking spots for those lucky enough to grab one.

Mellbreak to our right overlooking the small village of Loweswater.

St Bartholomew's at Loweswater

Passing the Kirkstile Inn - but we'll be back in an hour for sure.

Turning left towards Loweswater - think this is called Corpse Road.

Carling Knott and Burnbank Fell to our left.

With Low Fell and Darling Fell to our right.

Just past Watergate Farm and we reach the shore of Loweswater.

Five minutes of stone skimming and then it was back to the walk.

The walking is generally easy as we leave Holme Wood in the general direction of Waterend.

Time to head northwards as we start to turn and then head back

Pretty much a decent path all the way round, but there's nothing special about the road walking back to the village. A careful walk back making sure we keep out of the way of the occasional car.

Nearly back and it's the time to finish off the day properly.

After 2 walks and a day in the lakes, the forecasted rain finally arrives - but we don't care now anyway, soon we'll all be tucked up by the log fire with a beer in hand. A great day out in Borrowdale and Loweswater for all of us.
