Loughrigg Fell from Grasmere

Leaving Grasmere, we head towards Loughrigg Fell on the Red Bank Road

A mass of colour from the Rhododendrons which thrive in the acidic soil of lakeland.

A glimpse of Grasmere through the trees - but we head away from the lakeside as we climb upwards - much to the annoyance of the girls - "Walks should be flat and nothing else"

It's amazing how the grumbling stops as soon as a camera is pointed in their direction !

Great views of Grasmere from the Loughrigg Terrace. It was at this point that we decided to split - The girls carried on to Rydal Caves (where they were meant to wait for us !) and the boys nipped up to the top of Loughrigg Fell

Time to admire the views - but not too long, we had allowed the girls to wander out of our control !

A phone call later and the plan was revised to "meeting us on the path to the caves" as it took them a while to get there

Best give Paul & Al a ring to tell them we're going to meet them rather than wait

Well that didn't work !! No girls on the path and no girls at the caves. Oh dear - we've lost them........... How can that have happened ?

Headed back to Grasmere

Another communication and they are "on the beach" - so we headed back to Grasmere (which was the plan) and the beach there, but still no girls ?? even Face-time didn't explain their whereabouts - It wasn't until Allan asked them to find out where they were by asking someone, did we find out they were at the wrong lake !!! Rydal Water We were so far round the lake (Grasmere) that we told them to find the Badger Bar at Rydal and we would drive round and pick them up there - They will have no problem finding a pub - A lake yes... but not a pub. How right we were !
