Easedale Tarn, Sergeant Man, High Raise, Blea Rigg and Silver How walk

Usual parking spot for me on the A591, but it's getting busier there these days - ten past nine and nearly all the official spaces had gone.

As I started walking towards the village, I looked back to see Helm Crag bathed in bright sunshine, certainly bodes well for a good winter's day walk today.

After Goody Bridge it was time to turn off the lane and cross the small bridge over Easdale Beck.

Easedale Beck - always enjoyable to walk alongside whilst viewing the fells ahead. A nice gentle start to the day as I pack my coat and fleece into my bag due to the extremely 'warm' weather.

On this 'summers day' in February - it was almost good enough to take a dip.

Arriving at Easedale Tarn. Many folk walk up here and then go straight back down to Grasmere - actually the majority do exactly that. I was the only one heading further up the valley today.

The sharp pointed Belles Knott dominates your interest for quite a while as you pick your way up the head of the dale. A little bit of gentle hand to rock can be enjoyed as you work your way upwards.

Sergeant Man finally comes into view.

And after nearly 3hrs of walking, the rocky summit of Sergeant Man is reached. But a spectacular view awaits that makes all the effort worthwhile.

A pretty much flat trudge over to High Raise can then be done in about 10 minutes.

After a coffee and lunch stop it was time to retrace my steps slightly and head towards that very long and undulating bulk ahead that is Blea Rigg.

Plenty of cairns on bumps and outcrops as you head along this extremely wide ridge of Blea Rigg, I reckon this is the true summit, but you can easily get confused with so many about and some are obviously higher back up towards Sergeant Man - but I'm pretty sure this is it. It will do for me anyway.

Ahead at the end of this wide expanse is the delightful Silver How.

As the end of my walk draws to an end, I can see the picturesque Great Langdale to my right.

... and views over to Helm Crag, the Dodds and many more.

A little bit of scree then it's onto a very well engineered rock staircase which loses plenty of altitude in no time with the least impact on your knees.

Following the wall all the way back down into Grasmere and then time to listen to the football as I drive back over to the North East.
