Day 5 was much easier than the last two - The heat was intense and the desire to remove the boots and go for a dip in the beautiful cool sea was continually a topic for discussion, but the thought of getting sand in our boots and between our toes always put us off, especially considering we still had a long way to go and blisters were to be avoided at all costs.
Three lovely stretches of beach were passed (Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands) before Braunton was reached. The last 7 miles or so was through very flat and easy walking terrain, although a bit bland (Braunton Burrows & Braunton Marsh).
We both thought Braunton was a good place to have stayed - with a selection of good beer pubs, nice restaurants and a friendly feel.
