We were on the far side of Cheltenham (which seemed like an age to walk around yesterday), so our route to Painswick was reasonably straightforward. Steaming hot again, but today we were afforded some respite by the occasional woodland walking - which was appreciated at first but actually became a little bit too much over the next few days as mile after mile was continually under tree cover.
Upon arrival in Painswick we soon realised that there was nowhere to eat (late afternoon)- this is a beautiful but sleepy town and we had to find somewhere good to watch the England/Columbia game - a lovely girl behind the bar of The Falcon suggested we get a taxi into nearby Stroud and even sorted us with someone who would take us - this turned out to be a great idea and an amazing night was had by all seeing England win on penalties ! Brian had joined us by then and at about midnight informed us that he had no place to stay for the night (its a long story !!) - so we had to squeeze him into our B&B (Hats off to St Annes B&B - for being so understanding in the early hours).
I do have to apologise for the lack of photographs taken on this leg of the journey - It may have something to do with the long stints of woodland walking or heat exhaustion - but at least you can get a flavour of the night out !
