The path I took veered off the track after about half a mile
Heading towards Broom Fell by a different route than I usually take
I followed the wall between the trees right to the top of Broom Fell
Not much of a wall left here
Gradual ascent in a straight line
Broom Fell summit
The gentle climb up to Lords Seat
Summit (not much of one !) of Lords Seat
Now at the summit of Barf - views over Bassenthwaite
Looking over to Dodd & Dodd Wood with the Ullock Pike ridge behind. Skiddaw can't be seen.
Lets go this way for a change
My route through the Winlatter woods was promising at first but it gets confusing as you pick up cycle routes and with forest tracks they don't always take you to the destination you want ! So I was please to break out eventually and go across Tarabell Moss
An off path route across Tarabell Moss wasn't ideal - hard work and you feel it should have been avoided. But I eventually picked up a decent path higher up.
Now on a reasonable path - I looked back at the woods that I'd struggled with.
The very shapely Grisedale Pike
Winlatter summit - last of the day
Route back down to the Darling How road/track
You arrive at the road via a small gap in the trees - there is a very small cairn there, but you could easily miss it if you were wanting to start the ascent of Winlatter here
