C2C Day 4 - Patterdale to Shap

Thursday 14th July 2016

Day 4 - Patterdale to Shap is a hard day also, maybe not quite as hard as the last one, but very tiring all the same. It's another classic in my opinion with lakeland views a plenty all the way to Haweswater.

The route ascends to Boredale Hause and Angle Tarn before heading off to the Coast to Coasts highest point, Kidsty Pike. There are no eagles there anymore - although some coasters did spot one on High Raise (mmmm ! I didn't say anything). After that it's quite a steep descent down to Haweswater with the lakeside path that seems to go on for ever. An ice cream van sometimes pitches up at Burnbanks (eerie place under the dam wall) but then its fields and farmland all the way to Shap.

We stayed at the Crown & Mitre in Bampton Grange, really nice place and again had a great night with other coast to coasters - apart from getting locked out of our room, it went without incident.
