Yewbarrow

Saturday 8th June 2013

Seathwaite, Stockley Bridge, Styhead Tarn, Wasdale Head Inn, Overbeck, Yewbarrow, Dore Head, Wasdale Head and back the same way via Styhead Pass.

I was driving over the lakes to climb Yewbarrow today and was passing Keswick when an idea popped into my head - "Why don't I park up at Seathwaite instead and walk over to Wasdale, rather than driving all the way round", Granted it will be a much longer walk, but it will be considerably less driving - and after all that's what I'm here to do !

So a quick brake and left turn and I was on my way to Borrowdale.

The walk was enjoyable, but a very hard and tiring day made no easier for the lovely cold beer at the Wasdale Head Inn - the walk back up to Styhead Pass was indeed a grind. All the same I arrived back at my car satisfied for achieving the challenge and pushing myself even further. Only one Wainwright today but a rewarding day out !
