Winter Walk 2015 - North Stainley to Masham

This time we headed for Wensleydale to do an 11mile section of the Ripon Rowel circular from North Stainley to Masham.

Snow showers greeted us at the start but soon disappeared. It was generally easy going although muddy in places. I must say, really like the Ripon Rowels and plan to do more walking in this area in the future.

First stop for us was 'The Bull' at West Tanfield (as the pub in North Stainley had at the time closed down!) we stayed here for lunch. For our next stop, we continued alongside the River Ure taking a slight detour to visit 'The Crown' at Grewelthorpe and then it was onto our final destination of Masham where there were plenty of real ale pubs to keep us happy. The Theakston brewery tap, ‘The White Bear’ was superb and we could have stayed there all night – but our taxi was organised to take us back to Stockton to continue the drinking there.

A good day all round.
