North Cornwall Day 1 - Bude to Boscastle

Bude, Widemouth Bay, Crackington Haven, Boscastle.

The first section of this years walk was a real test and considerably harder than anything we had experienced in recent years. It was our first real experience of coastal walking and we soon realised that it is Hard ! Often on that first day we were surprised to see how little progress we were making along the coast as ups and downs around each inlet became the norm, landmarks back in Bude seemed to stay visible all through that first day - I realised that some of these stretches would be very tiring further along the coast when factoring in the significant ascent and descent that was being required, all done with the forcasted hot and sunny weather ! Well it was what we had hoped for - and how brilliant it was. Our legs soon got warmed up and rose to the challenge of the North Cornwall coast.

Boscastle was a perfect place to end that very tiring first day, our first Cornish pastie for tea and a few cool beers - We even had a babbling brook to send us to sleep that first night, not that we really needed it mind !

A great start to the best walk ever
